Animation Workshops

We have organised workshops for different projects. To make the animated films the workshops are required to attract a team, select the story and discuss the process of adaptation from oral text to the audio visual format. The workshop method was developed as a way to work with content from traditional folklore sources, and it was initiated for The Tallest Story Competition (2006) series by West Highland Animation. It was evaluated and implemented for the next series of animated films, Tales of the Tribes, and an animation workshop held at each regional location. The workshops provides a mutual learning environment for researchers and media practitioners to develop films that represent indigenous cultures with sensitivity.

Translation and Recording Workshops

Workshops are organised to translate the animated films and other media documentation into a range of vernacular languages, and to record the dialogues with local participants so that the films can be available to audiences in their own mother tongue languages.

Workshops are also organised to translate audio and video recordings from field research into English.

Children’s Workshops

We organise workshops for primary and secondary school children to watch and discuss films, and to gain hands on practical experience of techniques of stop-motion animation.
